( Character's Name ) : Ilyasviel (Ilya) von Einzbern
( Character's Age ) : 18-ish, although she looks about 9.
( Series ) : Fate/Stay Night
( Canon Point ) : Heaven's Feel, before she was kidnapped.
( Playability ) : n/a.
( History ) :
entry at TYPE-MOON wikia; see Heaven's Feel route.
( Personality ) :
With a cheerful and outgoing exterior, Ilya can easily act less than her actual age, and she does so very often. Approaching strangers with a giggle and a smile, it’s not hard for her to strike up a conversation with them. However, she’s not afraid to show you a bit of her mischievous streak; she loves to tease people once she gets to know them, although she gets fed up if you tease her. Ilya is very confident about herself… up until she gets surprised, which Shirou seems capable of doing rather often due to what she sees as strange behaviour. (He jumps away when she doesn’t mean to hurt him, and he says he actually doesn’t hate her after - that would be a bit confusing, wouldn’t it?) Since she has had virtually no contact with everything outside her castle, Ilya has a childish curiosity for the world around her. As such, she has no qualms about asking people about things, unless she senses that it's a sensitive subject. Like most young girls, she likes cute things and sweets.
Of course, it’s not all flowers and sunshine, and that often can’t be any further from the truth. The smiles and teasing attitude she has throughout a significant portion of her life are actually like brief moments of reprieve, dampers to lessen what she actually feels. Being trapped in a distant winter castle for many years, with only the elders of the lineage using brutal methods to train her, Ilya never knew what it was like to have friends and play games. Using her childish appearance, she hides her insecurities by acting open like other children do.
Despite being showered with love from two caring parents, all the love that Ilya has ever known is suddenly gone after the events of the Fourth War, replaced by what the Einzbern elders told her was the truth - that Kiritsugu had betrayed them all and would never come back. That, combined with the harsh training she was put through to exercise her magic circuits, led to a self-conflict about how she feels about her father. He had told her that he would be back in a few weeks, which then turned into a few months, and then a few years. She waited out of trust and love for her father, only to find out that he wouldn't return. Prior to the war, that was all she had known, so was that father/daughter relationship really all a lie? This is then extended to Shirou: she likes him and wants to get to know him, but she has been ordered to kill him, and she can’t help but think that he was the one who stole Kiritsugu away from her to become his father instead.
Betrayals hurt her the most of all for this reason, and she finds it hard to trust people for fear that she will trust the wrong people again. However, she really does want to trust people, and once her trust is gained she will hold to it unerringly. She looks out for the best interests of those she cares about, but ultimately leaves the decision in their hands. There's a certain element of attachment she has to these people, though, and she finds it hard to let them go. But she won't pull punches in what she says, whether she likes you or not. Also, while she isn't particularly inclined to kill someone, she would do so without remorse or hesitation if she deemed it necessary to achieve her goal.
Her confinement and shackling to her fate as a vessel of the Einzbern, created for the sole purpose of winning the Holy Grail War for Einzbern's glory, has given her a certain resignation to events she deems unavoidable. It is difficult for her to try and fight against what feels like a futile situation, and she believes that in those cases there is very little she could ever do to change the way her destiny is headed. However, through meeting strong-willed individuals, her perspective on her supposed fate changed somewhat.
( Strengths/Weaknesses ) :
ABILITIES
-- strength: As an Einzbern homunculus, Ilya has extensive magical capabilities. Her body was heavily modified before and after birth to maximize the number of magic circuits possible, and she underwent cruel training in order to be able to handle Berserker and constantly keep him in a state of semi-madness. Thus, she has a limitless amount of mana.
In addition, because she is based off of the archetype of Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern, one of the original three responsible for the Holy Grail ritual, Ilya is able to don the Dress of Heaven. This allows her to perform the Third Magic, materialization of the soul, which is the ultimate goal of the Einzbern family.
-- weakness: Ilya doesn't exactly have offensive firepower. As a homunculus with a rapidly shortening lifespan, she could never be an heir of the Einzbern family crest, and her technique is limited to what she was forced to learn, along with what she was born innate with (which is quite a bit, actually - she may not have all of it refined, though). She's also physically small and very light, so hand-to-hand combat is absolutely out of the question if it ever came down to it. Also, because magus families generally avoid technology like the plague, Ilya isn't very good with modern technology either. Expect a few mishaps with the SFC...
PERSONALITY
-- strength: Once you have gained her trust, she will never betray you, and she will support you through thick and thin. She's a lot more perceptive of situations and people than she lets on, and knows when to keep silent and when to speak up. Having been raised in a European noble house, she is a courteous host and a grateful guest - at least, when she thinks of herself in such positions.
-- weakness: She doesn't know how to go about relationships sometimes, especially since what happened with her parents. While she may appear to be immersed in conversation, she is constantly aware of how the other person reacts, which leads her to insecurities about her interactions with these other people. Her trust is strong once attained, but she finds it incredibly difficult to put her trust in people. Also, she has a bit of childish selfishness, but that's more of a front than anything because she just wants to make sure she's really loved.
( Other Important Facts ) :
Please don't mention walnut buds.
Also, her name can be spelled as Ilyasviel or Illyasviel, since I don't believe one has been dubbed official. I will be using the former.
( Sample ) :
[She turned over the small star-shaped device in her hand, unsure as to what it was supposed to do. Yes, waking up and finding herself in some unknown land that appeared to be underwater was a little disconcerting to say the least, but she was a person of magic, and understandably strange things happened when magic was involved. For all her abilities to sense magic, though, the small girl couldn't feel anything malicious at work.
So this was be something else, then. Maybe this really was another dimension - and that wasn't completely impossible to believe, either. After all, the Jeweled Sword was proof enough of that power. There shouldn't be anything powerful enough to extract an entire person into another dimension, though... and Zelretch probably wasn't so bored as to just dabble in her life like that. Yet, she couldn't get past the fact that something had happened to her without her being aware.
Ilya frowned. She didn't like that.
In any case, she thought as she looked around the street, she would have to figure out what this place actually was. It looked like a city, at least, and it was like she was in some sort of marketplace. The myth of Atlantis came to mind, although this place was probably a little too modern-looking for that. Well, it certainly appeared to be full of people! That, at least, was a small relief. She couldn't have imagined being stranded alone.
Scouting around for some person who looked easy to talk to, Ilya caught sight of a young man who seemed to be window-shopping. She ran up to him until she was right next to him, the proximity probably enough for him to notice her.]
Hey mister, [she said with a smile, with her hands folded behind her,] could you tell me what this is? [She pulled out the weird star thing she had found when she arrived and extended her hands up to him.]
( Questions? Comments? Concerns? ) : This is my first time roleplaying in LJ/DW format, so please bear with me!
